Security As Standard At Leading Motion
Here at Leading Motion we are shocked to see that many local websites that we look at are not secure. When we approach website owners about this, it seems to be way down the list of priorities. Of course when new clients approach us, they do normally have security on their list and are keen to hear that our websites come with an SSL certificate as standard. We would urge all business owners, no matter the size or budget to keep web security at the top of their list. Cyber-crime isn't going away.
So why do you need an SSL certificate? It's a bit like keeping your pin number a secret. You can either keep data or website traffic between the user and the web server private, or risk it being stolen. The function of an SSL certificate is to ensure that traffic to your website is directed over HTTPS, which stands for Hyper-text Transfer Protocol Secure. Websites using HTTPS are also ranked higher on Google than those which are not. Below are examples of what you will see when visiting a secure website or a website that is not secure. A high percentage of visitors will click away from a website that isn't secure.
