Lockdown | Digital Marketing | Essex
Many of us who are used to going to the office every day are lucky enough to have been able to set ourselves up to work from home. All of our Leading Motion Team are Colchester based, so it was straightforward to move any equipment from our main office at Colbea North. We have been talking to many people about their experiences of working at home, and it seems that some of the changes may well stay on their landscapes once we go back to normal.
I don't know about you but when I go out for my daily exercise, I find that people are a little friendlier and are more inclined to say hello and chat. Someone was telling me that he has travelled the world as a TV editor for years and was always advised that he couldn't do his work at home. Now that the industry has been forced to re think policy, he is working at home and doing the job to the same standard. He now plans to work form home permanently.

I find that I often get more done at home as there is no journey to work and I don't have to rush off to pick the kids up, as I would if I were in the office. As a team, we have found phone and video conversations and meetings have been effective in running consultations, and helping our clients to set their website projects live. It comes as little surprise that true entrepreneurial spirit shines through, given that 99% of the total business population in our country is made up of SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises). Our clients are making changes and adaptations to every aspect of their work, to continue to be successful. We have seen some wonderful social media posts and helped with website amendments, which have enabled some of our clients to continue to work. I wonder how many will keep working in that way in the future?

At Leading Motion, while we are in no doubt that our personal service and the fact that we go out and see clients face to face if possible, is very much appreciated. We are assured by this unprecedented time in our working lives, that we can get our businesses' personality, ethics and values across, just as successfully via video consultations and and phone calls. Our projects are progressing and we are talking to clients as usual, plus new prospects who are looking for bespoke website solutions. On a personal level, I miss going to work and I would not want to work at home forever. However, we do now know that video can be used just as effectively locally, as it would for conversations further afield. Our clients are busy people and I think that we would be quicker to schedule a Zoom Meeting than we would before this crisis.

There have been many moments over the last few weeks where I have stopped and thought, wow that worked really well. As a team we communicate when in the office and out, however we can see that our processes have really stood strong throughout this time. What could have been a logistical challenge and frankly a mess, has turned out to show our strength and tenacity. We are really pleased with how the structure and business is rising to the challenge, and continue to implement changes to improve the experience for our clients.
